Ingredients
For the Beef Bites:
- 1 lb (450g) beef steak (sirloin or ribeye), cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
For the Creamy Mashed Potatoes:
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- ½ cup whole milk or heavy cream
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
1️⃣ Prep the Beef:
Let the beef rest at room temp for 20 minutes. Pat dry and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
2️⃣ Sear the Steak:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef cubes in a single layer for 2–3 minutes per side until browned. Work in batches to prevent overcrowding. Set aside.
3️⃣ Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:
Lower the heat to medium. Add butter, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Stir for 1–2 minutes until fragrant. Return beef to the pan and toss to coat. Garnish with fresh parsley.
4️⃣ Boil the Potatoes:
Place potatoes in a large pot with cold, salted water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
5️⃣ Mash It Up:
Drain the potatoes, then mash with butter, milk or cream, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Adjust texture with more milk or butter if needed.
6️⃣ Plate & Serve:
Scoop a generous serving of mashed potatoes onto each plate, top with sizzling garlic butter beef bites, and drizzle any leftover sauce. Sprinkle with parsley for a fresh finish.
Pro Tips:
- Want more richness? Add a splash of sour cream to the mash.
- Make it a full meal with sautéed green beans or roasted broccoli on the side.
- Using cast iron helps get the best sear on the beef!
